International Association of Muslim Psychologists has officially released the IAMP Code of Ethics and Expanded Ethical Guidelines: Integrated Edition, a comprehensive ethical framework for Muslim psychologists worldwide. The document was prepared by Hanan Dover and reviewed and endorsed by the IAMP Board of Trustees.
The publication emphasizes that Islamic psychology should integrate contemporary psychological science with Islamic knowledge while maintaining evidence-based professional practice. The code outlines key ethical principles, including respect for human dignity, professional propriety, and integrity, along with practical guidance on issues such as confidentiality, cultural safety, collaboration with imams or scholars, and cross-border telehealth services.
Published in April 2026, the document is expected to serve as an important global reference for Muslim psychologists in both Muslim-majority and minority contexts. It also includes an implementation roadmap featuring training, onboarding webinars, and periodic reviews to support the adoption of these ethical standards in professional practice.
